General rule: Regrind when the wear land on any cutting edge reaches 0.20-0.25 mm. Running beyond this point risks chipping the edge and damaging the head body.

When to Discard a Brazed Head

Guide Pad Replacement
Guide pads wear faster than the cutting edges in most BTA applications. They should be inspected at every regrind interval and replaced sooner if needed.

Torque retaining screws to manufacturer specification (typically 3-8 N-m)
Verify pad position and protrusion with a toolmaker’s microscope
Run a test hole and verify diameter and finish
